Announcing New Deadlines

ANNOUNCING NEW DEADLINES
You’ve asked – we’re listening! Thank you for your patience as we transition TFMC’s All State Festival to an online event. After a challenging first ‘virtual’ year, we will continue to strive for solutions that work for everyone – students, parents, teachers, district chairs, and festival staff. History tells us that it took a few years to settle into a smoothly operating ‘live’ event; so we know that it will take some time (and patient persistence) to produce a ‘virtual’ event that meets or exceeds our standard of excellence.
This year, the software platform has changed.
The cost for using last year’s platform far exceeded expectations. Furthermore, that increase was not communicated to us on a timely basis. We could not, would not, increase fees enough to cover those costs. Other platforms were investigated and one finally rose to the top, at a cost that could be covered by this year’s festival fees.
This year, the deadlines have changed – and will be adjusted in response to the number of requests received asking for a bit more time for students to prepare for competition.
At ‘live’ events, we’ve had the luxury of engaging 25+ monitors who, among their other responsibilities, ensured original scores were used, measures were numbers, and that repertoire presented matched the registered repertoire. Students took advantage of more time to polish performances between Registration and Adjudication.
For ‘virtual’ events, validation of pdfs and videos falls to limited festival staff which requires more time. This must be accomplished before releasing videos to judges, so to delay video performance deadlines is to delay adjudications and receipt of awards. Students must be at performance adjudication level weeks before the historical ‘live’ event date.
Registration/Payment of Fees: April 10, 2021 by 11:59 PM
Video/PDF score Submissions: May 1, 2021 by 11:59 PM
Certificates/Rating Sheets and Awards will be delayed accordingly. Try as we might, there just doesn’t seem to be a way to print, prep for shipment, and distribute ribbons and plaques to festival chairs by the end of the school year - especially with these later registration and video submission deadlines.
We will make every effort to communicate ratings by the end of May, but teachers must be patient to receive judge comments which will be printed on Certificates/Rating Sheets.
Thank you for your patience and for encouraging student participation in the TFMC All State Festival. Be sure to let us know if you have any trouble with your registration. Our team is here to help!
